The problem is that despite so many alternative technologies being developed, from energy production to organic packaging, the status quo of polluting and toxic products is so enormous, has infected the planet so deeply, that these alternatives cannot scale up quickly enough to compensate for the damage already done.
And then there is the sheer economic power behind the status quo, the behemoth oil, coal and gas industries at the core of our energy and packaging and plastics industries that are so ingrained into the modern world that the process to remove them will take most of the century, which we don’t have.
The poison that is killing us, is part of us, that so many believe we cannot live without it, even as it is shortening our lives.
The power of industrialisation, the thing that made the modern world, has evolved to destroy everything to increase its power, including us.
And its kin of Capitalism, following profit at whatever cost, supports this wholeheartedly.
Profit versus humanity is a no-win situation, because you, your hopes and dreams, your love and longing, isn’t profitable, so it isn’t important, and therefore, neither are you.
