When people speak out about diversity what they are really saying is that we need more straight white men. And we all know why. Because straight white men are beacons of virtue. They are the moral leaders, the unabashed genius, the leading moral and spiritual lights of humanity.

When we look at violence, at murder, you will never find a straight white man. When we look at abuse, rape, domestic violence, who do we find as the perpetrators? Never a straight white man.

The history of wars, small or global, were never instigated by the needs, desires, greed or avarice, the unchecked egos, of straight white men.

When child abuse rings are broken up by authorities, groups that have committed unspeakable crimes against the most vulnerable in our society, you never find straight white men involved, do you?

When a bar brawl breaks out, when some drunken violent fool beats and ends up murdering someone else, we all know that there is no chance, not even a skerrick of possibility, of a straight white man being involved.

When a woman is found murdered, after being abused and beaten, we all know, deep down as a society, that no straight white man will be involved, especially if one is a boyfriend, husband, jilted ex-lover.

When large financial crimes come to light, when law enforcement charge someone with defrauding little old ladies of their entire life savings, we know that no decent respectable straight white man will be involved.

We know this, we are told this, by our century of media, of film and television, that straight white men, who we barely ever see on the screen, are always the good guy, the trusted one, the chosen one who will save us.

And as we know in real life, there is nothing untrustworthy or suspicious about any straight white man.

For the history of our very species, from our earliest communities, from the beginnings of empires, of power centres, of consolidations into larger nations and continent spanning kingdoms, the straight white men who ruled were always beneficent rulers, kind, caring and wise, and never committed any act that would be seen in any context as brutal or cruel.

This is what people call for, yearn for, when they speak out against diversity.

A return to the golden times of straight white men, maybe a dozen at most, ruling over us all with the care, concern, everlasting love and support, that history has shown us that straight white men are capable of both in the home and in public.

I mean isn’t that what all of us really want?
