What you need to realise that despite being still within the first half of the 21st Century, we are effectively still experiencing the 20th. And what I mean by that is that everything of any consequence is controlled by capitalist 20th century thinking. Your food, your fuel, your news, your job, your healthcare, your kid’s education. All of it has to be profitable.

Good for you? Good for society? That doesn’t come into it. Profits are king. If you can’t afford it, forget it. Is that the world we were told we had? Of course not. Is that the world we dreamt of for the 21st Century? Only in a Science Fiction dystopia. You are a product, a thing. Replaceable, disposable. Only valuable if you have actual monetary value. Your humanity, your soul. What’s it worth? Round dollars?

That’s the 20th Century talking. That’s the long tail. The long tail of the 20th Century where if you don’t have money, if you can’t make the owners money, you are not worth a damn thing.

You know it, they definitely know it, and anyone who tells you anything else has never tried to pay their rent after a big bill has come in. Human life is just another product, and yours might be written off any day now.
