What is the solution for loneliness?

There’s always that answer of ‘go out and make friends’ but how’re you supposed to do that?
Is there are directory for interests and people?
A guide to where to go to find who likes what?
People who will willingly spend time with you to help you find your way, for free?

Of course not.

You hear the old adage of “putting yourself out there” but where in the world is ‘there’?
For those that know how, learned how, were taught how, it seems easy, but if it’s a foreign language, something that you have no frame of reference, no star in the sky to guide you, how do you even begin?

We know the problem, we know how much damage to people it can do, but our for profit system has no way of addressing it, no real place for it, because it’s not something that has easily explained monetary value.

Might as well ask what is a life worth.
And as the capitalist 21st Century has shown us, not much.

We can’t look for business, or even government these days, for any answers to this problem.
We need something better.
Something we can do, as individuals, as people, as a community.
Because no one else is effectively doing anything at all.
